Vietri sul Mare: a new access route on the Amalfi Coast

Tuesday, 2 July 2019

Among our Travelmar destinations, we will soon include the enchanting Vietri sul Mare, a little village at the edge of the Amalfi Coast.

«Work in progress - says Giovanni De Simone, the new Mayor of Vietri sul Mare - for a new project that will be inaugurated soon. It will be a mobility solution and a strategic development of the tourism. With the Marina jetty we will activate the Sea roads, which imply the maritime transportations connecting Salerno and the whole Amalfi Coast».

Reaching Vietri as you #goboating will be both easy and relaxing. From the train station in Salerno, simply walk towards Piazza della Concordia until you reach Molo Masuccio: our ticket office is right there!

«Very soon the construction site will start working, becoming a vital part of the project - states Marcello Gambardella, Travelmar CEO - we are confident about the inauguration of the maritime connections for this summer already».

The ferries will be ready to transport you to the most beautiful places on the Amalfi Coast, including colourful and vibrant Vietri sul Mare.

This little village is known around the world not only for its beautiful landscapes, which have been declared a World Heritage Site, but also for its handmade ceramics, a symbol of its identity.

We can see the distinctive Ceramica Vietrese (Vietri Ceramic) decorating the majolica-tiled dome of the church of San Giovanni Battista, located in the old town. These distinctive tiles may also be found along the walls in the narrow centuries-old streets and decorating little walls where scenes of everyday life are painted.

Vietri Ceramics are the highlight of his marvelous town’s Public Garden as well. From here, enjoy the most astounding views of the region’s emblematic terraces over the cliffs.

After reaching the old town, at the top of the city, stroll back to the “Marina di Vietri” and #goboating again. As you sail off, don’t miss the scenic view of I due fratelli, “The Two Brothers.” These twin projecting rocks, a symbol of Vietri sul Mare, are often the stars of our travelers’ photographs. Once in Vietri, you can #goboating back to Salerno with Travelmar or you can decide to visit nearby Cetara, Maiori, Minori, Amalfi or Positano.
